Packaging Technologist

Our client is a large international FMCG company with a well-known brand of products. Due to their dynamic development and worldwide expansion they are now expanding and consolidating their Purchasing and Supply chain operation. For their new corporate HQ-s located in one of the North European capital cities they are now looking for an experienced packaging technologist.
MISSION
The job holder will be responsible for the technical packaging activities in the development of products for their assigned new products range. He/she will be an integral member of the core New Product Development Team for their assigned category and will give support to the following areas: Marketing, Purchasing, Manufacturing and Distribution. Main areas of responsibility will include the following tasks related to the development of packaging and products in their assigned product category:

Project Management of specific packaging development projects : Lead project activities such as planning, scheduling, tracking and reporting the status of projects from initiation to final delivery within multifunctional teams for the development of new products (Marketing, R&D, Plant, Sourcing… )

|
Coordination of feasibility studies on Marketing design proposals in conjunction with internal and external development partners, e.g. Purchasing, Manufacturing, Distribution & agreed supplier partners.
|
|
|
Approval of all relevant technical component drawings.
|
|
|
Coordination, approval and reporting of all necessary packaging/product component testing, via the Product Testing and Scale-up team within our Global Technical Centre
|
|
|
Coordination, approval and reporting of all necessary filling line and transit trials.
|
|
|
Creation and maintenance of relevant packaging specifications.
|
|
|
Technical approval of finished components.
|
|
|
Coordination of packaging artworks and origination proof (“bromide”) approvals necessary to complete the development of their brand or product packaging
|
|
|
Be the technical interface with suppliers
|
|
|
Keep up to date with developments in all aspects of packaging technology
|
|
|
Other tasks as required
|
REQUIREMENTS
Some of the requirements for this role include:
|
|
Degree (engineering or scientific subject) with a specialization in packaging
|
|
|
Minimum of 5 years experience as a packaging developer in an appropriate New Product Development environment.
|
|
|
Ability to prioritize and manage multi projects simultaneously, highly organized
|
|
|
A strong conceptual ability to brainstorm and resolve complex problems
|
|
|
Excellent interpersonal skills (communication & team working) with a high level of initiative
|
|
|
Self-motivated and excellent problem-solving skills as well as a team-oriented attitude
|
|
|
Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice and packaging software would be advantageous
|
|
|
Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications
|
|
|
Fluent English, other languages are additional asset
|
